Drag and drop in the migration client

With drag & drop, the scanned NTFS permissions are visually displayed in a directory tree and can primarily be changed with the mouse.

This feature is characterized by the fact that user and group names no longer need to be written. You can search for objects in the AD, park them in a clipboard and drag them from there or from a directory of the initial state to a destination directory and drop them there, hence "drag and drop".

1. Create directories for the target state.

There are two ways to create the directories for the target state:

1.1. Tables mode

The simplest way to create the directories in table mode. You can import the scanned directories as well as data from a spreadsheet (xlsx format). Additional directories that are not available in the initial state can also be created.

1.2. Drag and drop mode

This mode can be used for the project types "Scan resources" and "Import table". For projects for Novell migration, the drag-and-drop mode can not be used.

Rights suffix

For the authorization groups, a file attachment indicates which rights this group has to the directory. This group suffix can be changed here.

In the "Visible" column, you can specify which rights are displayed and thus for which rights authorization groups are to be created.

In addition to the group configuration for the migration client, as we have from migRaven 5 know, two sections have been added.
The "Roles / Accounts" section defines rights for the users of the web client.
In the "Remote Services" section you can find out about the configuration of the services (AD Scan Services, Resource Scan Services, ...), create additional services and delete unnecessary ones.

Start and AD-Scan

1. Start.

The migration client must be called with administrator rights.
And all services must be started, except for the Resource Scan Service. This is first created in the migration client.

2. AD-Scan

After the start the domains have to be scanned first. migRaven shows us the found domains, we have to mark those to be scanned.

With the button "Add .." (1) the window "Add Active Directory Statistics" opens.
The top elongated field ends with an arrow down (v). By clicking this field (2) a calculator list appears.
It displays the computers on which the AD Scan Service service has been installed. Initially only the current computer name.

We select this and confirm the "Discover" button (3).

A list of found domains is displayed. Select the domains (4) whose users and groups should have permissions on the shares you want to migrate. Objects of unscanned domains migRaven later than orphaned SID represent.
With "Save" (5) the list is closed. Scan scans (6) the selected domains.

1. preparation

1. System requirements of migRaven check.

The system requirements for the use of migRaven can be found in the following document:

migRaven_Systemanforderungen.pdf

2. Installing .net Framework 4.6 (or higher)

The current version of migRaven requires the .NET Framework 4.6 to be found at

http://www.microsoft.com/de-de/download/details.aspx?id=42642

3. Installation of Java

The current version of migRaven Allows you to migrate Windows shares, import permissions from a table, and migrate Novell servers. It needs the most recent migRaven Database version and thus the latest version of the Java Runtime (JRE) in the 64bit variant.

You can download the latest Windows 64bit Offline Installer from this URL:

http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jre8-downloads-2133155.html

You can check your currently installed Java version with the following CMD command: java version

Java must necessarily before migRaven be installed.

Since the Java version contains the Java version number in the Java path migRaven after a Java update the new version is not. Therefore, after a Java update for the database in the registry, the path to Java must be adapted.

For a straightforward entry, the support migRaven-Support via remote session during installation and accompanies you through all relevant functions. After only 30 - 60 minutes is the migRavenTest version and can be used for a full 21 day for the visualization, analysis and analysis of your directory and rights structure. Please check in advance only the system requirements - further preparations are not necessary.

Accompanied test position: Request now

4. Notes on installing migRaven and its components

In the first version of migRaven.one all components should be installed on the same machine.
For the following versions we plan to install components on different computers.
From about 50.000 AD accounts a separation of the program from the database can be advantageous.
We recommend, migRaven to install on a client to avoid creating additional load from the database during the scan on the file server.
