What is my domain's FQDN?

For a program license we need the FQDN of your domain. FQDN is the "Fully Qualified Domain Name "or the" fully qualified domain name ". We have to differentiate here between the FQDN of the domain and the FQDN of the computer. The FQDN of the computer is made up of the computer name and the FQDN of the domain, eg "Computer.test.local". We need the FQDN of the domain, in this case "test.local".

Please use our licensing tool ADCounter, um the number of User Accounts, on the our licensing of migRaven based, determine.

If you subdomains you must also specify these when ordering the license. The subdomains are entered encrypted in the license key so that  migRaven she scans.

1. AD-Counter

The AD counter scans your Active Directory.
Searches and displays your domains and subdomains and their number of active users.
The bigger your system is, the longer it can take.

For the licensing of migRaven after active accounts we need the following information:

  • To create the license key we need the domain and subdomain names whose objects are to be migrated.
  • The sum of the active users of these domains and subdomains determines the cost of the migRavenLicense.

AD-Counter

The AD counter determines your domains and subdomains and the number of active users.

The AD-Counter you can download free.

2. Other ways to view the FQDN of the domain

Let me introduce you to a few ways to show you the FQDN of your domain.

2.1. Administration of Active Directory users and computers

You can call up the administration of the Active Directory users and computers with "dsa.msc". The FQDN of your domain is shown next to the domain symbol.

2.2. Contents of the environment variables% userDNSdomain%

The environment variable% userDNSdomain% contains the FQDN. At the Commando level, you can display the contents of the variables with the call:   echo% userDNSdomain%   or with   set userDNSdomain.

.

2.3. Wer bin ich

If you call “WhoAmI” with the parameter “/ FQDN”, your user name is displayed with the FQDN of your domain.

Call:   whoami / FQDN.

The FQDN is part of the displayed name. The contents of the DC parameters separated by a point result in the FQDN: test.local.

WhoAmI

3. The full computer name - FQHN (Fully Qualified Host Name)

If the FQDN is extended by a server name, one speaks of the full computer name or host name.

The FQHN uniquely identifies a computer.

Example: svrverkauf.test.local

The server name is required for server licensing.

4. subdomains

A subdomain could be berlin.test.local. This name can hardly be distinguished from the FQHN (host name). You can only guess from name components such as svr or sub whether it is a full computer name or a subdomain.

When submitting the license, please include the subdomains of migRaven to be scanned and whose accounts belong to the specified number of users. Subdomains do not cost extra.
