NTFS permissions for FSS targets

With the “Directory Creation” or “Folder Self Service” (FSS for short) function, the user can independently create directories based on centrally defined templates, set authorizations for them and adjust the settings at any time.

Preparation of the target on the file server – basic setup

So that these folders remain clear, we recommend the configuration in the following form:

  1. Create share with ABE activated
  2. NTFS permissions as follows:
    1. All necessary full access rights
    2. Authenticated user with standard RE rights and the option "Only this folder"

This setting ensures that users can only see the folders to which they are authorized.

Attention: We strongly recommend the use of a DFS namespace. This guarantees operation without major adjustments beyond changing the infrastructure. Otherwise there is a setting in every migration migRaven need to be migrated.
